The longer my daughters hair gets the fuller, curlier, and more unruly it becomes. I am always looking for new products to help brush through her tangles and that will ease hair time. When I came across the Smoobee “Magic, No Cry Hair Brush” I knew we had to try it. Anything that says it helps with tangles is something worth trying…
The Smoobee brush is a wooden brush with two types of bristles. It comes in fun, girly colors and you can even bedazzle it to give it some extra flair!
I had really high hopes for this brush, but using it on my daughters hair had it’s Pros and Cons. I always try to tie my daughters hair up before she goes to bed since it cuts down on the amount of tangles she will wake up with.
Pros: When I brushed her hair after it being tied up for the night the Smoobee was able to tackle her hair with no detangler and little crying, tugging, and snagging. It combed through her hair great after bath time when her hair is wet and has little to no tangles. In these situations, the brush worked better then other brushes I have used on her hair.
Cons: The problem I encountered was on the days where I forgot to tie up her hair and it was a complete mess. Even with lots of detangling spray, my daughter was screaming her head off and the brush was pulling, snagging, and ripping her hair. It was a total nightmare.
According to their website “For intensely curly hair, it will still take much effort but at least Smoobee can make it fun.” I am not sure what their idea of fun is but when my daughter sees this brush, she runs away screaming.
If you have a childĀ with straight or wavy hair I think this brush could be a good fit, but if you have a daughter like mine who has thick and very curly hair then I doubt this brush would be a good fit.
Smoobee can be purchased via their website for $23.99.

Tangles are killer. i always hated them before. I think it’s worse when someone else is brushing your hair because they don’t know their own strength/how to do it. maybe real hairstylists are the only ones who are good at it, and mothers too.
