Since the girls are obsessed with Unicorns I wanted to surprise them with a fun afternoon snack I knew they would lose their minds over, Unicorn OREO Cookies. Super simple to make and oh so delicious. I’ve been making chocolate covered OREO’s for years because they’re so easy and versatile. They’re also perfect for Halloween Oreo Bark.
First you’ll want to stock up on necessities like RITZ crackers for after school snacks and OREO Cookies for this yummy treat at your local Walmart. Make sure to pick up the family packs, because if your kids are like mine they’ll be done with a box in 2 days.
While you’re at Walmart make sure to pick up candy melts in white and various Unicorn colors and sprinkles. We went with gold sugar sprinkles for our Unicorn Cookies. I had planned on using a variety of different sprinkles, but loved how just the gold looked.
To make 6 Unicorn cookies I used about half a package of white candy melts and melted them in 30 second increments until fully melted. Stir in between each turn in the microwave. It usually takes me about 3 30 second turns and then a 15 second turn to get my candy melts perfectly melted.
Next you’ll drop an OREO into the melted candy, cover with white chocolate, and then I use a fork to pick mine up and tap it against the bowl several times to help the chocolate settle and get the excess chocolate off. Don’t worry about if they don’t look perfect, mine don’t, because you’ll be covering them with the Unicorn colors. Do this multiple times until your desired amount of OREO’s are covered. Let them sit in the refrigerator until chocolate is cooled, about 15-30 mins.
Once they’re set you’ll want to melt the different colors the same way you melted the white candy melts. Drizzle each color over the OREO and use a toothpick to swirl the colors together.
Add sprinkles and put back in the fridge to set again.
