2012 Kia Optima Hybrid

I was recently given the opportunity to test drive the 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid. I’ve seen this car driving around town and I always notice the sleek and stylish design. When the car arrived I couldn’t wait to drive it around town and I ended up falling in LOVE with it instantly. This was by far my favorite car review. I sent an email off to the lovely PR person I was working with telling him he wasn’t getting the car back, but he caught onto my evil plan and made me give it back anyway. When they arrived at my door it was a very sad day and I may or may not have cried a little. I don’t feel I had enough time to properly assess the car and I’ll be needing it back for further review purposes. Do you hear that Kia? Drop those keys off anytime, I’ll be here waiting…

The Kia Optima Hybrid had so many lovely features that I don’t even know where to begin with this review. So I suppose we will work from the outside in. This car is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. Everywhere I went, I would have people looking at it. The valet at my daughters doctors office said it was an honor to park the car and he couldn’t believe how beautiful it was, the guy at sonic commented on how “cool” the rims looked (I agree, the rims are pretty awesome), and I even had a guy (with another optima) flag me down on the freeway and give me a thumbs up and wave. No lie, this car got attention EVERYWHERE we went.

True Conversation between me and hubby:

Me: If we win the Lotto I want an Optima

Hubby: *gives me crazy look* You will have millions of $$, why do you want an optima?

Me: Have you seen that car? It’s awesomeeeeeeeeeee

Hubby: *gives me crazy look again*

The trunk size was a little smaller then I was expecting, but that is due to the fact that it houses the hybrid battery stuff. Regardless, it still had enough room for the essentials, like a stroller and groceries. The car is very spacious and roomy. I was able to fit 3 full sized car seats in the back seat with two grown adults in the front and no one was cramped or squished.

The car got AMAZING gas mileage. I’m pretty sure this car has gotten the best gas mileage out of any car I’ve driven. While riding around town the car would average 40-50 mpg and the total distance was about 500-600 miles per tank. I didn’t have to fill up the tank once and we drove ALL over the Denver area. One of my favorite things about the Optima was that when you’re driving it, depending on how environmentally friendly you are driving the car grows flowers. *Funny Story* When they dropped off the car they mentioned it grew flowers. I thought they meant there was a vase or something for you to put a plant or flowers in. HA! Total Blonde moment. Once I started driving the car around I knew they meant the screen with the odometer and other stuff would grow (electronic) flowers. The better you were driving, the more flowers it would grow.

The Optima has navigation, Bluetooth, key-less start, satellite radio, and all that other good stuff. Everything was easy to use and fabulous! I think my daughters favorite part of the car was the panoramic sunroof. I would open them up for her while driving and she loved that she could see the sky. Not familiar with panoramic sunroofs? It’s basically a sun roof on the whole roof of the car.

The 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid was a nice ride. Smooth, handled turns well, and when I needed to step on the gas to run yellow lights the car had lots of power. Not only is it a nice ride, but it’s safe! The 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid has 5 star safety ratings and side, front, and overhead airbags.

I would highly recommend this mid-size car to any family looking for a new car. It’s stylish, roomy, gets great gas, and it’s safe to carry your precious tots around town. Don’t take my word for it, stop by your local Kia dealership and test drive one today. Trust me, you’ll fall in love.
