I was provided a Kia Sorento to drive around for a few days. All opinions are my own!
Last month I was invited to attend the Van’s Warped Tour on behalf of Kia Motors and for the weekend they gave me a 2014 Kia Sorento to drive around. The outside is pretty much the same as the previous model, but the inside got a big face lift and I am loving the new changes. This Remington Red color is gorgeous and really makes the Sorento stand out, but don’t worry if you’re not a fan of red the Sorento is available in 10 colors and 7 interior colors. Since I was in San Francisco for this review I got to drive the Sorento on bumpy, hilly, windy roads in the sunshine and rain. In the rain we noticed that the Sorento was sliding a little and we though it was just the way the car handled, but then we realized the All Wheel Drive wasn’t on and once we hit the button to turn it on the Sorento turned into a whole new vehicle and handled so much better. The ride was smooth, it handled turns with ease, and in the rain it hugged the ground. In AWD it was a big hit with the hubby and I.
The 2014 Sorento has a lot of the same features as the other Kia vehicles I’ve driven. AM/FM Radio, CD Player, Satellite radio, Push to Start & Keyless entry and a Back-up camera to name a few.
This was a cool feature that popped up. God forbid my husband ever stops and puts gas in the car, but we were running low and in San Francisco and this popped up. When I hit “Yes” it gave me a list of all the gas stations in the area and directions to them. Such a great feature for when you’re in an area you aren’t familiar with or if you’re trying to figure out where the nearest gas station is.
I don’t remember the navigation system being this cool. I’ve always liked the navigation systems in the Kia cars, but this one was a little different as it showed you what lanes you need to be in and when you’re driving in a busy city or a freeway with a lot of junctions this can come in handy big time!
I’m noticing that a lot of new vehicles are putting outlets in the middle and third row seats and this is a feature I LOVE. Being a technology family, this really comes in handy for when your out and about and need to charge something or on roadtrips. Let’s face it, we all have cell phones, laptops, and tablets these days and the 115V outlet really comes in handy for charging electronic devices on the go. I found this in the middle seat and it’s perfect for anyone in the back that needs to charge a device.
Some other nice features are the Under 3rd row storage compartment, Dual Climate control, Powerlift gate with trunk button for closing, Blind spot detection, and Panoramic Sunroof.
The 2014 Sorento is spacious and comfortable on the inside with more then enough room for a growing family on the go. Available in 5 or 7 passenger seating and a specious trunk. The new V6 engine is not only powerful, but very fast and the Sorento gets 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway and 22 in combined driving and the AWD at 19/24/21 mpg. All in All it’s a great family SUV and starts at just $24,100!
