When the hubby and I made the move to Denver we moved away from all of our family and friends. While we love the change and distance there is one area of our lives we took for granted and that was babysitters! Living close by to family meant we could drop off the kids and head out to run errands, go on a date, or I could have some me time and I knew the kids were safe. Since we don’t have any friends or family around in Denver getting dates nights and alone time never seems to happen anymore, unless we come back to California where our family is.
I’m one of those paranoid moms who doesn’t like leaving her kids with total strangers so finding a sitter hasn’t been an easy task and with our newest little one due in just a couple weeks getting a trustworthy and reliable sitter is higher up on my to do list now, since I know having 2 small kids in the home will definitely require more alone time for the hubby and I to relax and reconnect. I haven’t started searching yet, but I know once our newest little one is a few months old that I’m going to need to start looking and that’s where UrbanSitter comes in handy! UrbanSitter was founded in 2011 by a group of Internet veterans who wanted to use technology to power a faster, more trusted way to find, book, and pay babysitters.
Some key tips about UrbanSitter:
- The concept of UrbanSitter relies on the power of social networks to connect parents and sitters through real life connections.
- UrbanSitter offers parents trust and efficiency by relying on the power of social networks to connect parents and sitters through real life connections. It replicates the off-line process of gathering sitter recommendations and puts it online to make it much simpler and more efficient.
- UrbanSitter shows the parent as much information as possible about each sitter, including ratings, skills, experience and the number of repeat families.
- Online and mobile payment options make it easier for parents to pay sitters and removes/replaces the most awkward part of the engagement for both parents and sitters.
Another great thing about UrbanSitter is there are currently 1,000 sitter members in the Denver area. That gives a lot of options for a trust worthy and reliable sitter. Even if you’re not located in Denver, UrbanSitter is available in major cities around the US and there are a variety of sitters that are sure to meet your families needs!

I look for a square! I want a sitter to not drink, smoke, party or go thru my things! I want them to be caring, understanding, trusting and fun with my kids!
