The last year has been tough for our family with colds and various other ailments. The toddler has been more times than I can count thanks to preschool, the hubs sick, and I ended up sick as well. Getting same day appointments at the Dr’s office can be hard and sometimes impossible. I’ve had them tell me I had to wait a few days to be seen and when you’re sick and looking for relief that is the last thing you want to hear, so for most of our minor healthcare visits we like to visit the Healthcare Clinic Denver at Walgreens.
Staying healthy is major for me so I can take care of the little ones.
We first learned about the Healthcare Clinic’s Walgreens offers when we moved to Denver. They has no such thing in California and I was in awe a little bit the first time we used it. My husband learned about them from some coworkers when he came down with the flu and needed to be seen. He walked right into the clinic and was seen by the nurse practitioner who prescribed him some meds, provided him with a dr’s note, and sent him home to rest. We’ve been hooked ever since.
The Healthcare Clinic’s offer a variety of services from vaccines, checkups, treatments for illnesses, and various other things. They accept most insurances and with our insurance it’s actually cheaper for us to go to a Walgreens Healthcare Clinic in Denver than it is to go to the regular Dr or Urgent Care. How crazy is that? We’ve used the Healthcare clinic for various reasons, but I have top 4 times that really stood out for us to go.
1. When I was pregnant I ended up with a bladder infection. It was during the weekend and my Ob’s office was closed. I was able to checkin at my local Healthcare Clinic and get some antibiotics.
2. The toddler needed some paperwork filled out for school and her Dr’s office was jerkin’ me around. They said it would be several weeks to get the paperwork done and even longer to get her an appointment for a checkup. Instead of waiting for them we just drove over to our same Healthcare Clinic and was able to get it all done the same day. Talk about a total life saver!!
3. Most recently we all ended back up back at the Healthcare Clinic when we had some of the nastiest colds in a while. It seemed to just keep lingering on and after a visit at the clinic we were all diagnosed with broncitis and given antibiotics.
One of the great things about the Healthcare Clinic’s is being able to go on the website and check to see how long the wait is and being able to make an appointment. I’ve only ever made an appointment once when they seemed to be super busy and I’ve never had to wait more then 30 minutes. It’s so much better then sitting in an ER or Urgent care where the wait can be hours. When you’re sick or with kids that’s the last thing you want to do. We’ve always had a good experience and have felt well care for.

Our Walgreen's doesn't currently have a clinic. Sure wish they did. It would be so convenient and much quicker than waiting at the doctor's office.

My family has used the walgreens healthcare clinic a few times for vaccines. Love it, very convenient location right by our home. They are always so friendly and willing to help us with anything.

I love that you can find out the waiting time before you even leave the house at the Walgreens Healthcare Clinic! This makes getting healthcare with kids in tow so much easier! #client

I'll have to check and see if any of our local Walgreens have a clinic. I agree, waiting in lines can be crazy. And last minute Dr. appts are unheard of.

This is definitely a great alternative than going to the ER on the weekends where you could potentially wait for hours and hours. I didn't know these clinics existed. Thanks for sharing!
