Life isn’t perfect, especially with 3 kids and nothing ever seems to go according to plan. Our house isn’t always clean, kids always on their best behavior, or a trip out of the house going according to plan and that’s ok. When I look around my messy living, with toys thrown all over, instead of seeing a mess I see happy kids playing and giggling and I know that I can always clean up later on, but I won’t always get those unscripted moments of little kid laughter and happiness back.
An AVEENO survey found most parents say that “unscripted” moments are more beautiful than those that are perfectly planned and I have to agree 100%. I try so many times to get the perfect picture and I’ve finally given up. Instead I embrace the beauty in the photos of my kids making silly faces, goofing off, or even crying because I know that they’re REAL moments and I won’t ever be able to get them back.
So what is #UnscriptedBeauty? It’s Authentic/Natural, Unexpected, Positive, Confident, Mature, Family-oriented but most of all it’s Fun/Light-hearted. It’s life with kids and something I have to stop and remind myself to enjoy and embrace in the stressful moments of life. It’s unexpected cuddles at the end of the day before bed, donuts for breakfast, silly faces during pictures, and faces covered in ooey gooey messes. One of my favorite unscripted moments is when I overhear my 1 year old and 5 year old getting along, playing together, and actually sharing their toys. It’s rare, but it’s the sweetest thing when it happens. Our daughter is obsessed with Shopkins right now and she just got some new ones. As she was opening them up and checking to see which ones she got her little brother came over and was inspecting them. He would baby babble something about them and then hand them to her to put in their case. Once she was done they sat down and pretend played with them and it was the sweetest thing seeing them get along and play together.
