Thank you to American Girl Doll for sending us a Luciana Vega doll and accessories. Our space themed hideaway with DIY Space Garland was the perfect space for our daughter to enjoy her new doll. To make this garland you’ll need a Cameo 3, card stock, and fairy lights. It’s so easy to make and is perfect for any occasion.
Several weeks ago I introduced you to Luciana Vega, American Girl’s 2018 Doll of the Year. When I presented her to our daughter I also wanted to give her a fun hideaway where she could enjoy her new doll, accessories, and book. After some brainstorming I came up with the perfect plan, a space themed teepee. Her little brother and sister love to bother her and I really want her to have a quiet space outside of her room. This space tent is great for that. She can even close the drapes when she wants to hide from them.
I’ve always told my kids they can be whatever they want when they grow up and it’s something I 100% believe. President, Astronaut, and being a firefighter are just a few of the things girls are told they can’t be and I want to end that stigma. Girls can be whatever they want to be. It will take hard work and determination, but I have no doubt that if she wants to be an astronaut she will be one.
It’s always good for girls to have strong, powerful role models to look up to. Woman who are doing the things they want to do so they can see first hand that it’s possible. This is where Luciana Vega comes in. She’s a girl who wants to go to Mars and she’s helping to teach my daughter that she can have those same dreams too. Luciana is a role model for today’s girls—empowering them to defy stereotypes, and embrace risks that will teach them about failure and success as they chart their own course in life—whatever the goal. Combining leadership, team work, and STEM literacy Luciana shows that while there are bumps along the road you can still accomplish your goals.
You can learn more about Luciana Vega and all she has to offer in my original post about her. Today I’m sharing our Space Themed Teepee.
What you’ll need:
Fairylights
Cameo 3 (or other cutting machine)
What you’ll do
I found some space themed imagines from the Silhouette Store. Rocket ship, planets, astronaut, and stars. I cut everything out on the colored card stock I wanted and glued the necessary ones together.
I put together my Teepee and wrapped fairy lights around the top. I then used the second string to hang my garland.
Add a fuzzy carpet to the teepee (or pillows) and your child has a cozy space theme hideaway.
Everything was so easy to do and our daughter LOVES it. This garland is also great for a space themed party or playroom.
