Whisk until the pudding has thickened.
Place 1 cup of the pudding in a separate bowl and 1 ½ cups of the pudding in yet another bowl.
Add the blue dye to the bowl with only 1 cup of pudding and stir until no color streaks appear.

Line up your cups and place 1 tablespoon of crushed Oreos in the bottom. Spread evenly.
Place 2 tablespoons of the blue pudding on top, and gently spread evenly.
Add another tablespoon of crushed Oreo and spread even again.

Tips and Tricks for Making Dirt Cups
The cups I used and linked to are 9 ounces, which I found a little big for kids, but not adults. It seems to be a popular size, but I definitely suggest the 5-ounce version of these cups when it comes to parties and smaller kiddos. Of course, this means the amount in each layer will need to be reduced.
I use Americolor food dye, which makes gorgeous colors. However, some other food dyes tend to not give the color desired as the end result. I highly suggest this brand as you might end up with light blue and pink instead of these vibrant colors.
I do not remove the frosting from the cookies before crushing them. I just throw them in a gallon baggie and beat them with my rolling pin.
Trolli brand gummy worms are the ones with red and blue worms that are perfect for the cups. You’re welcome to use other worms if the colors match up.
Because these types of cups taper, it causes the last layers to be bigger due to the sizing difference.
These can be covered with plastic or lids, without the worms and flag, and left in the fridge for up to 2 days before serving. The cookies may be a tad softer, but it’s still delicious. I do not suggest freezing these cups.
