Homemade Strawberry Glaze
This strawberry glaze recipe is perfect for Strawberry Crunch Cheesecake cones or strawberry shortcake but also works on a variety of other foods like baked goods, toast, ice cream, lemonade, and more.
There is nothing like some homemade fresh strawberry sauce.
Strawberry Glaze Ingredients
To make the best every strawberry glaze you are going to need:
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 2 Cups of Strawberries (cut into quarters) (stems removed)
- 1/4 cup of Water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
How to Make Strawberry Glaze
Wash your strawberries and dry them. Remove the stems and cut them into quarters and place them in a bowl.
With a potato masher mash your strawberries. Set aside. You can skip this step, but mashing them allows the flavor to release sooner.
In a medium saucepan place your water, lemon juice, sugar, and cornstarch.
Whisk everything together until the sugar and cornstarch are dissolved. If your cornstarch is lumpy try to get the lumps out before adding the strawberries. Sometimes they’re easier to get out once the water is hot.
Add in your strawberries and cook for 4-8 minutes or until your sauce has thickened. Stir frequently.
Remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes.
If you like a chunky strawberry glaze then stop here and let your strawberry glaze cool. Once cooled store in the fridge or freezer.
If you want a smooth strawberry glaze, add your sauce to a blender and blend for about a minute until your sauce is smooth. You could also use an immersion blender or food processor, but I get the best results with my blender.
