PowerCapes is a team of Moms, Dads, Customer Service Heroes, Web Ninjas and Passionate People who have dedicated their lives to helping kids be real super heroes.
Started by Holly Bartman as a way to provide children with personalized super hero capes, PowerCapes has become the #1 destination for authentic super hero wear for kids (and adults, too!)
Their company is founded on the principles of giving back to the community and supporting children’s causes while making a fun, high quality, safe product.
They have their own manufacturing facility in the Metro Detroit area where their production staff makes each product completely by hand one-at-a-time for children around the world.
I was a little more excited then usual when I found out I would be reviewing a PowerCape. Growing up I remember running around the house with a blanket or towel tied around me like a cape. It was so much fun and it’s been something I look forward to teaching my kids.
My daughter is still a little young to understand the greatness that pretending to be a super hero is and my son is “too cool” for that.
I sat down to browse the huge selection of capes. There were so many styles and colors to pick from that I didn’t know where to begin. They have huge selection of T-shirts, capes, masks, and wristbands. You can choose from a pre-made style or create your own. There really is something for everyone. Emblems, Plain, Initals, Sparkles, No Sparkles…
I ended up going with a initial pre-made cape for my daughter and also got a mask.
As always with new packages that arrive in the mail we opened it right up and got to work playing. Once I showed my daughter what to do with the cape she didn’t want to take it off and she often walks around the house trying to put it on herself. The mask is another story though…
The quality of this cape is great! I was expecting a typical cape you get from a halloween costume or something, but it’s way better then that! The material is thick and sturdy and the stitching is amazing! I know this cape will last a long time and hold up to the many washes and beatings my child will give it. I ordered a kids size cape and it is a little big on her, but she is a toddler and on the small size for her age so I know she will have plenty of time to grow into it. I also ordered her a mask in a size 2-3 and it was big and kept falling off her face so she couldn’t wear it. BUT she is only 18 months old and on the small side. I am confident in saying it should fit a 2-3 yr old just fine.
As you can see I went with an M inital and in the color purple and also bought a sparkly purple mask. M is obviously for her name and she has always favored the color purple.
I have to admit I am a little jealous! I wish we had capes like this when I was little… Maybe I’ll convince my husband we should all get capes and run around our house pretending to be super heroes!
PowerCapes can be purchased HERE and they start at just $19.99. Masks start at $6.99 and wrist bands start at $19.99.
