Outlet Shopping for Summer Clothes – 66% savings!!

Sharing is caring!

I am in California and decided to hit up the outlet mall since my son needed summer clothes. I went with a budget of $200 to get him clothes and shoes. Once I started shopping I found such amazing deals that I ended up getting my toddler clothes as well.

The outlet malls we hit up were Vacaville Prime Outlets and Folsom Outlets.

Let me start by saying that my goal is to buy items for $5 and under, but I prefer the $2-4 range. I will spend more if the savings is GOOD and I know the clothes will last!

Oshkosh B’gosh

I NEVER shop here. They have adorable clothes but I have never found the prices to be that great so I usually skip it. My friend wanted to go here and I am SO glad we did. I picked up some great finds for my toddler.

Clearance was an additional 30% off so I stuck with clearance racks only! I got 4 pairs of shorts $2.79-$3.49 and 4 tops $1.39-$2.79 (prices after discounts). Retail Price: $116  Price before tax: $22.32 total savings: 81%

Oshkosh was by far my biggest savings trip and they had tons of cute tops and knit shorts! My toddler was acting up so I didn’t get a chance to check out the boys section…

The Children’s Place

This is another store I am not too fond of, but I always pop in just to check because a few months ago I was able to snag $70 winter coats for $3 each and fleece hats for $0.99.

For my son I was able to grab $3.99 shirts and shorts and $4.99 shorts for my daughter (2 shirts and 2 shorts for my son and 2 shorts for my daughter). The Children’s Place outlet has separate email coupons from the store, so if you have an outlet near you I would sign up for them. I combined the sale with a 20% off coupon.

Retail price: $55.90 Price before tax: 20.78 total savings: 63%

Carter’s

This wasn’t an outlet, just the regular store but they had TONS of clearance and they had coupons for 20% off a $40 or more purchase, but since I didn’t spend $40, I didn’t use the coupon.

Carter’s had shorts for $3.99-4.99 and tops for $4.99 and up. I only got 1 pair of shorts and two tops because I didn’t find too many items for super cheap.

Retail: $48 Price before tax: $13.97 total savings 71%

Crazy 8

This is my FAVORITE store to shop at for my son. They are owned by gymboree and the quality of their clothes is good and they are affordable. I never knew they had an outlet location until yesterday. I always shop at the regular stores and manage to find good deals there.

I got clothes for both kids here, but the boys clothes had the better prices by far!!

I got my son 1 pair of pants, 4 pairs of shorts, and 6 tops here. Shirts averaged $3.99 -4.99, Shorts averaged $6.99 – 8.99, and I found a pair of cargo pants for $3.99.

For my daughter I got 1 swimsuit $9.99, 3 Shorts, averaged $5.99 – 8.99, and 3 tops, averaged $3.99 – 5.99. Plus I got 2 sets of hair bows $1.99 – 3.99.

Retail Price: $279.10 Price before tax: $110.80 total savings: 60%

The savings for my sons clothing was A LOT higher then the items I got for my daughter, but I was willing to spend a little more here since I love the quality of the clothes. Crazy 8 does have 20% off coupons, usually found in parents magazine, but I am not sure if you can use them at outlet locations.

Gymboree

I LOVE gymboree, but their prices are SO expensive so I try to stay away unless there is a HUGE sale and I have a 20% off coupon! The outlet had a lot of last summer’s clothes, but I didn’t care.

They had TONS of shorts and tops for $2.99 – $3.99.

I got my son two shirts $2.99 each and my daughter 3 shorts $2.99 – $3.99 and 2 shirts $2.49 – 2.99 each.

Retail Price: 83.93 Price before tax: $22.93 total savings: 73%

Famous Footwear

This was just their regular store, but they have a clearance section. I got my son a pair of sketchers on clearance and my friend found Yo Gabba Gabba vans for $20. (My daughter has some already otherwise I would have bought them too) They had ALL Styles of YGG shoes priced from $20-25. They normally range around $40.

Sketchers Retail: $44.99 Price before tax: $25 total savings: 44%

This wasn’t a killer deal, but I rarely find my son shoes this cheap so I was happy. They also had a coupon for $10 off a $50 or more purchase…

If your kids need summer clothes I would suggest going to the outlets. They usually have sales going on and some stores have coupons. Stop by the mall office and pick up coupons too. We found coupons for carter’s, famous footwear, oshkosh, and a few other stores in there. Of course we found them after shopping at those stores…

My total retail price for the day was $627.92. Total spent before tax was $215.80. Total saved was 66%.

I consider this a great day!

My son got 1 pair of pants, 1 pair of shoes, 6 pairs of shorts, and 10 shirts.

My daughter got 1 bathing suit, 13 pairs of shorts, 12 tops, and 2 hair bows.

I originally didn’t plan on buying my daughter ANYTHING but I couldn’t pass up the great prices and I noticed the shorts I bought her two month ago are already getting snug.

Both kids should be good until winter, when I will do it all again! 🙂

I’m sure better deals can be found if you use the coupons that stores have, but since I didn’t spend the amount required for the coupons I couldn’t use them. Almost all the stores had tops and shorts for around $2.99 & $3.99.
