I was given the amazing opportunity to take part in a Champions for Kids Simple Service Project – Spin into Action for children’s oral care. If your unaware of Champions for Kids they are an organization that’s goal is to improve the lives of children in communities. For my simple service project I went to walmart to purchase Arm & Hammer Spin Brush toothbrushes and other oral care items for children in need. You always hear about kids needing food, clothes, and shoes, but how often do you hear of kids needing oral care items?? So many kids go without proper oral care items and this is sad to me because oral hygiene plays such a major role in living a healthy life.
I set out to walmart with my little one and headed to the oral care isle. There were SO many choices from toothbrushes, mouthwash, toothpaste, and floss. It’s a good thing I was there for Arm & Hammer spin brushes because all those selections are a little overwhelming. I picked up some Arm & Hammer spin brushes for adults and kids.
My daughter had fun helping me shop and picked out her own “Choo Choo” spin brush and I picked up Spin Brushes that you could personalize. I noticed that other then personalized spin brushes there were no other “girly” spin brushes and I wish there had been more girly options.
Once I was done getting our kids oral care items I headed home to decide which organization I would donate items to. I was torn in my decision because I want to help a woman’s/kid’s shelter, but I also want to help the victims of the recent Colorado Wildfires. I ended up deciding to help the wildfire victims. I am so thankful that our family wasn’t effected by the fires other then a little smoke and I can’t imagine what these families are going through.
I went online to find the best organization to donate too and decided on the American Red Cross. Not only will I be donating kids oral care items, but oral care items for adults along with other hygiene items.
You can see my whole shopping experience in my Google+ Story. I encourage ALL of you to donate to a local school, church, or shelter. Even if you only donate 1 toothbrush, you are still helping a child in need!
Stayed tuned for another post where I will share with you my donation trip!!
