Call me crazy, but I love back to school shopping. I’ve always had this weird obsession with new school/office supplies.
As we all know school is getting ready to resume and that means back to school shopping!! My 9 year old is getting ready to start another school year and I needed to send him quality school supplies. While I was shopping for him I also picked up extra items to donate to local kids in need to #BagItForward…
For back to school this year I decided to shop at walmart since I know they have a low price guarantee and I like to get the most bang for my buck. All walmart’s are different, but at my local walmart the school supply section is in the front of the store. Along with the school supplies are these big Elmer’s 1st day of school displays that hold school supply lists and have info on how to download their 1st day of school app. I downloaded the app while shopping at walmart and it was very quick to download and easy to use.
The 1st day app allows you to share those special 1st day of school memories with family & friends. For every picture that is taken with the 1st day app, Elmer’s will donate one item to the Kids in need Foundation. (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love a company that gives back and helps those in need. They are the companies I am happy to support…)
When I was growing up we use to put Elmer’s glue on our hands, let it dry, and then peel it off. It sort of looks like peeling skin…
While at walmart I picked up all kinds of school supplies. Crayons, Marker, Pencils, Paper, and all the other good stuff. I got stuff for my son and also bought extra to donate to a local charity. With the prices of school supplies, it’s really not that expensive to pick up a few extra supplies to give to someone in need. (The extra supplies for 2-3 kids cost me about $30)
I’m thankful that my family has everything they need, but not all families have that so I decided to donate the extra school supplies I purchased to The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. When I walked into the office I was greeted by a friendly woman. I explained I was dropping off some school supplies and her face lit up. She gave me a donation form and couldn’t stop thanking me. When I was getting ready to leave she said the kids would love the supplies and she couldn’t wait to hand them out because she knew it would be fun for them.
If you have never donated items before or seen the happiness it can bring to peoples lives then I suggest you do. It’s one of the best feelings in the world and I am happy knowing I could help someone out who is in need.
When you take your kids school supply shopping, toss a few extra items in the cart and give them to a family member, friend, school, church, or organization that needs help. Bag It Forward, you’ll be glad you did!
X-Acto Desinger Series and Walmart are offering a chance to win a trip for four to Disney World! Entry form can be found on the 1st Day App site!
