I had never heard of Magna Color before receiving our Magna Color 3D Art Board, but when I saw it I knew my daughter would have a blast with it. She loves anything that involves coloring or crafts, so I knew this would be right up her alley. The Magna Color 3D is a drawing board allows your child to create wonderful pictures in 3D. There are no messy paints, markers, or crayons to worry about, just the Magna Color board and metal dots.
With four different colors to choose from, let the drawing begin. Insert a stencil onto the design board or make your own design — then use the Magic Dot Pens to draw colorful works of art. When the masterpiece is complete, get ready for the WOW factor by putting on the 3D Ultra Vision Glasses. The images seem to pop off the screen! Ready to draw again? Clear dots with the Screen Sweeper. Then gently shake and sort different colored dots back into the correct pens. Voila! The initial set comes with 4 Magic Pens and 160 Magic Dots.
The Magna Color 3D Art Station was very straight forward and easy to use. Pop the pens into the art station, place the dots on the art station, sweep them into the board, shake the board so all of the dots fall onto their right row, and then shake until the dots are in the pens. Once the dots are in their pens you can then pick which image you want to color and get to work. The recommended age is 4+ for the Magna Color 3D Art Board, but my almost 3 year old had a blast with it. I wouldn’t let her play with it alone since the metal dots are small, but it’s definitely something we can do together. She loved being able to drop the dots into their correct space and it even gave us a chance to work on her colors. The pens were easy to use and you just place them over their correct color on the image and give it a little press. I did find that a light press was all that’s needed to get the dot out and that if you press too hard, multiple dots will come out.
Once we were done creating our picture we took turns using the 3D classes to watch our picture pop to life. My daughter kept giving me this crazy look while wearing the glasses and saying it was “cool”. She isn’t too familiar with 3D so this was a new, but exciting feature for her. All in All we loved the Magna Color 3D Art Board and look forward to playing with it over and over again. I’m also thinking I’ll have to purchase some of the add-on kits so we have more fun pictures to create. The Magna dots are small and a choking hazard, so if you have small children in your home it’s best to keep an eye on them. I would recommend this to anyone with a kid who loves to color and it would make a GREAT Holiday Gift!
The Magna Color 3D Art Station can be purchased at retailers such as Toys R’ Us or Amazon.com and don’t forget to pick up some of the add-on sets as well!
