Store-bought angel food cake, a quick lemon frosting, and fresh berries combine to make a quick and easy lemon berry angel food cake.
Cake with berries is a must-have in the spring and summertime and this lemon berry angel food cake requires no baking or heating up your house. It’s the perfect picnic or bbq dessert, but also works for potlucks, parties, family gatherings, or just because as an after-dinner treat.
With just 4 ingredients you can quickly put this lemon berry angel food cake together and the longest task is slicing some strawberries. You’ll need a store-bought angel food cake, lemon curd, cream cheese, and fresh berries. You can also add some powdered sugar as a sprinkle to the top of the cake, but that is totally optional.
What is Angel Food Cake?
Angel food cake is a type of sponge cake and it’s perfect for this recipe. You should be able to easily find it in your grocery store’s bakery section. Angel food cake is light, fluffy, and pairs nicely with lemon and berries.
What Other Cakes to Use?
You could also make this cake with white cake, yellow cake, pound cake, lemon cake, or a roll cake. If you can’t find a big angel food cake you can use the small individual cakes for strawberry shortcakes. Just add the frosting to the indent and place berries on top.
How to Make Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting
To make lemon cream cheese frosting you’ll take lemon curd and room temperature cream cheese and mix them together until smooth. If you find that you would like your frosting to be sweeter add 1 cup of powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture and mix well. If you want more of a lemon flavor add in more lemon curd and some lemon zest.
What Berries to Use for Berry Cake?
For this cake I used strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, but you can use whatever berries you like. You could do only 1 berry or a mix of berries you enjoy. Blackberries would also be a nice addition.

This would be a great recipe to make now. Driscoll berries are the best berries that I can find in the store. They never get rotten really fast, and they taste so delicious! This cake looks delicious.
