Exploring Atlanta with the CityPASS!

Sharing is caring!

One of my goals for 2014 is to travel more as a family and check out new places. My husband has been telling me for a while now about how Atlanta has the best aquarium in the world so I knew Atlanta would be our first trip for 2014. Since we wanted to check out a few of the attractions Atlanta has to offer I knew getting the CityPASS would be a great idea for us. With the Atlanta CityPASS you are able to visit 5 attractions: Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca Cola, Inside CNN Studio Tour, Zoo Atlanta or Atlanta History Center, and Fernbank Museum of Natural History or High Museum of Art. With the CityPASS you get to skip the ticket lines and head right for the entrance and you get 9 days to visit all the attractions (from the first day of use.) Available for purchase online or at the above attractions and you get a discount by buying the CityPASS vs passes to each place.

Our first stop was the Georgia Aquarium. My husband has been talking about this place for awhile now so I was excited to check it out. When we got to the aquarium the Dolphin show was going to be starting soon so we checked that out first and the show was very cute. It had a nice story line and the tricks that dolphins did were great. Once the show was over we started exploring the aquarium and it was huge. I’ve been to some nice aquariums, but this was by far the best. There are different exhibits for the different types of fish and each exhibit was big with gorgeous fish. One of the things I really liked is how big the tanks were. I’ve seen dolphins and other animals at different places before and their tanks always seem so small, but the tanks here are pretty big which is always a good thing for the fishies. They also offer a wide variety of different fish to look at and fish that not all aquariums have, like the whale sharks. The tank with the whale sharks, sharks, and sting rays was one of our favorites and we had the best time just sitting there and watching them all swim around.

Next up we visited the World of Coca Cola. Anyone who knows me knows I love my coca cola and since we were in Atlanta I had to check this place out! When you arrive you check in and then you see a little presentation, watch a movie, and are sent out to explore the world of Coca Cola! They have a whole bunch of exhibits with the history of coke, vault with the secret recipe, iconic art work and memorabilia from over the years, and there is a room where you can taste the different flavors of coke from all over the world, 60+ flavors, and it’s all you can drink, and a 4D movie. I liked the movie because it asks people their favorite thing about coke or a favorite memory of it. A majority of people loved the “ahhh” sound it makes when you crack it open and I have to agree. That sound combined with the first bubbly, fizzy sip is the best! Another must see attraction for any Coca Cola lover!

We really wanted to check out the Zoo, but it was so cold during our trip (in the 20’s and 30’s) and since I was still getting over being sick we decided to pass. We really enjoyed our trip and plan on heading back again, next time we’ll be checking out the Zoo and I think we’ll hit up lego land and the children’s museum (not part of CityPASS).

If you plan on hitting up Atlanta get a CityPASS to save some money and make sure to hit all the great attractions, esp since a lot of them are right next to each other in downtown Atlanta!

My family was provided with CityPASSes for our trip. All opinions are my own!
