If loving cold weather is wrong, I don’t want to be right. The holidays are the most wonderful time of year for numerous reasons – but most specifically, because of the fashion options they present. Is there anything more satisfying than pulling out your pea coat or favorite pair of fuzzy ear muffs after months of sandals and shorts? As an avid connoisseur of ladies’ footwear, I most anticipate the hordes of fall and winter boots the season brings, and the plentiful options I have for accessorizing them. How doesone accessorize boots, you ask? In one of the following ways:
With Leg Warmers
That cozy feeling you get when pulling on a warm sweater can be replicated by snapping on a pair of thick, wooly leg warmers! Choose a fun pattern or color to peek-a-boo from underneath your mid-calf boots for a look that’s as comfy as it is chic. Bonus points if you can match your leg warmers to your scarf or sweater!
Try: Asoidchi Lace Trim Leg Warmers (Amazon) & Matisse Footwear’s Brazilian Leather Riding Boots (ShopHQ)
With Leggings
Is there an ensemble better fitted for cozy nights by the fire (err, space heater) than an oversized sweater or sweatshirt with a pair of leggings? Whether you’re hibernating or going out, leggings are super versatile in style and color, so that they can easily be worn out to the office or while cuddled up with some hot chocolate indoors. Select from fun materials and bold patterns for a variety of different completed outfits. If you’re dressing up, they look especially great with a cute skirt or dress!
Try: Black and White Reindeer Leggings (Pink Queen) & Black Ankle Boots (H&M)
With a Touch of DIY
Come up with your own little embellishments to spruce up last season’s footwear for something that’s fresh and fabulous. Try your hand at a DIY design that’s highly original – with a cord, chain or strand of beads, you can loop plenty of cute objects around your favorite pair of boots! Boot bracelets are a real thing, and while you can always buy them pre-made, they’re certainly easy enough to make yourself. From lace and feathers to belts and bling, you can drape virtually anything around boots to give them a little glamour and drama.
Try: Burlap Flower Decal (Positively Beautiful Life Blog) or (She Knows)
With Clothing & Jewelry
With so many types of boots available for purchase, there’s no reason to settle on plain, solidly colored shoes. Why bother, really, when you can find a pair in the same price range that have decorative zippers, fur lining, spikes, studs, bows and everything in between? These little ad-ons make it fun to match your apparel to your footwear. For example, complement boots with a gold or silver riding cuff with stylish cuff earrings and bracelets; distressed soles with a pair of ripped jeans; and lacey cut-out heeled boots with a cut-out bib necklace or dress. The possibilities are endless!
Try: Polygon Necklace (Emporium Home) & Sbicca Sound Fringe Boots (LuLu’s)
How do you like to accessorize your boots in the winter?

I like the idea of the leg warmers with the boots! It looks so cute, and that is what I do when I wear boots. I use leg warmers.

So many different ways you can accessorize boots, I love using leg warmers over my boots, and wrapping jeweled chains around the too.
