Scotts Every Drop

I’ve spent almost all my life in California, with a good chunk of it spent in the San Francisco area. San Francisco is known for it’s cold weather and fog and growing up on a beach town outside SF meant a lot of drizzly fog and rain, but over the last several years there has been less rain, fog, and more sunny days. It’s no secret that California is in a serious drought and like many others I am trying to cut down on our water usage to help conserve water. One of the things we’ve reduced a lot is watering our lawn and so have most of our neighbors. Our street is filled with brown lawns and dying gardens and it’s sad to look at, but helping to conserve water is more important. But I recently learned about Scotts® EveryDrop™ which is a great way to still maintain your lawn while trying to conserve water.

Scotts #EveryDrop
Scotts® EveryDrop™ is a unique blend of wetting agents designed to help move water into the soil, consistently and evenly. This helps to reduce wasteful runoff and pooling. Whether relying on rain, sprinklers or hoses, EveryDrop™ helps to make the most of available water. Well-fed lawns and plants are more efficient at using available water. So how does EveryDrop™ work? Have you ever noticed when the weather conditions are extremely dry rain or water from your sprinkler often pools up on the surface or it can run off, instead of being absorbed into the ground. EveryDrop™ uses a unique formula of wetting agents that help make water wetter and easier to be absorbed. When added to lawns or gardens, EveryDrop™ can help water spread out and sink into the soil, allowing more water to reach the roots – where it is needed most – and hydrate the plants.

Ways to conserve thanks to Scotts® EveryDrop™:
  • Morning is Best: If you must water, morning is best. Water evaporates in the afternoon before plants can use it and can cause fungus or other diseases in the evening
  • Mow High: Grass three or four inches long has deep roots to access underground moisture, reducing the need for surface watering
  • Mulch Planting Beds: Mulch reduces evaporation and helps retain rainwater
  • Adjust Sprinklers: Avoid watering the sidewalk and driveway
  • Check for Leaks: Outdoor faucets, sprinklers and hoses can crack and leak
  • Avoid the Wind: Watering on windy days can spray much more than your lawn and garden
