I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the TB Blood Test. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation. #TBBloodTest
Back to school was extra crazy this year since we now have 3 younger kids at home. There is so much to do to prepare for starting school like school supply shopping, getting new clothes, starting a new daily routine, filling out paperwork, and that yearly school physical Dr’s appointment with immunizations, blood work, ect. Our time is valuable and I like to plan things so I can get the most done at once. When we go to the yearly back to school physical I make the kids appointments for the same time and bring the paperwork for them to fill out while we’re there so I don’t have to make multiple trips back to the office with 4 kids in tow. One of the things I always dread is the TB test because you have to go back in a few days to get it checked and getting my kids to leave that little bubble alone on their arm is followed by lots of “don’t touch that” and “leave it alone”, but long gone are the days of heading back to the Dr’s office since they came out with the new TB blood test!
Now when the Dr does lab work on the kids he can also draw for the TB test and I won’t have to head back into the office. The blood test can help diagnose tuberculosis (TB) infection and is a major scientific advance over the 110-year-old skin test, giving greater accuracy and a more reliable result. The TB blood test is the only available method of testing for TB with completely objective results. Other tests, such as the skin test, are subjective and open to visual interpretation. With the TB skin test, another visit to the doctor for a physical examination is necessary after a few days. If you are infected with TB, a raised lump will develop at the site where the tuberculin was injected. However, a previous TB vaccination is likely to cause a false-positive result and individuals may also experience severe itching at the puncture site. The TB blood test allows you to get accurate results in just one visit leading to meaningful benefits – more ease, more time, and more certainty.
By using the TB blood test you get:
- The most accurate test for TB infection – no cross reaction with a previous TB vaccination
- Only a 3ml draw of fresh blood – irrespective/regardless of patient age/immune status
- The convenience for you and your patient of just 1 visit
