5 Must Have Dinosaur Books for Kids!

Sharing is caring!

Our little guy is dinosaur obsessed and we have mountains for dino’s around the house in addition to clothing, blankets, and books. The kids love reading time and for our little guy a dinosaur book is always at the top of his list. I’m sharing his top picks for dinosaur books that are fun to read and one of them is also educational and loaded with everything you need to know about dinosaurs.

Dinosaur Books

National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Dinosaurs – This book is for kids 4 to 8 years old (but our 2 year old also loves it) who LOVE dinos! The prehistoric world comes alive with dinosaurs small, big, giant, and gigantic, with stunning illustrations. Bursting with fun facts and age appropriate information, each spread features a different dinosaur, along with simple text in big type that is perfect for little kids.

Dinosaurumpus! – Shake, shake, shudder … near the sludgy old swamp. The dinosaurs are coming. Get ready to romp! Where can you find a Deinosuchus that practically pirouettes on its tail and a T. rex that bounds gracefully through the air? In DINOSAURUMPUS!, where dinosaurs run, boom, shake, and shudder their way to the “sludgy old swamp” and rock the night away.

The Good Dinosaur – The Good Dinosaur is a humorous and exciting original story about Arlo, a lively Apatosaurus with a big heart.  After a traumatic event unsettles Arlo’s family, he sets out on a remarkable journey, gaining an unlikely companion along the way–a human boy. Boys and girls ages 2 to 5 will love this Little Golden Book retelling of the film.

Dinosaur Roar! – Dinosaur Roar! features a series of colourful dinosaurs with rhyming text that teaches young children about opposites and individual differences: weak, strong, short and long.

Have You Seen My Dinosaur? – How do you find a missing dinosaur who’s large and green and likes to roar? When a little boy’s dinosaur decides to play hide-and-seek, he is surprisingly difficult to track down.
