Thank you GEICO for sponsoring this post.
We’ve been in our house for just over a year now and the day we got the keys to our house was one of the best days. It was a long road to get here, but after paying off all our debt and building a savings we were able to purchase our family dream home. We knew owning a home would be a wonderful feeling and there is a lot of responsibility that comes with it, but we’re learning more and more everyday that owning a home can also be a lot of work. Home repairs, plowing, yard work, and so much more. For the most part our home has required very little repairs, but you know how the saying goes “when it rains, it pours”.
Just recently we had a water leak in our kitchen that did some damage to our kitchen and basement. I freaked out and my husband quickly called our homeowners insurance who sprang into action to help us get everything cleaned up and repaired. A few days later our garage door broke and we needed to replace it. I’m thankful that we have built a small savings to help cover unexpected home repairs and that we have a good homeowners insurance, through the GEICO Insurance Agency.
We’ve been GEICO customers for years. My husband was in a pretty nasty car accident about 10 years ago and had GEICO at the time. The customer service he received was so wonderful that he vowed to always stay a customer. We did leave for a short time, but quickly came back to them because Savings with GEICO (Time, Money, Convenience, and Service) was some of the best we’ve received. When we bought our home it was a no brainer for us to go through the GEICO Insurance Agency for our homeowners insurance.
We’re currently in the process of getting our floor and basement fixed (boy what a long process getting repairs done can be), but GEICO has been amazing and so helpful through all of it. Helping us through every step of the way, answering all our questions about next steps, and helping us to find someone to do the needed work. My advice for other homeowners would be: Have good homeowners insurance and have a savings for unexpected repairs.
Did you know GEICO is a resource beyond insurance? They offer great tips like 5 Spooky House Noises You Should Never Ignore and House-Cleaning Hacks: Get Your Home Guest-Ready in 15 Minutes. As a homeowner I’ve found their tips to be very helpful!
