Moana Flower Easter Basket Tutorial

Sharing is caring!

DIY Moana Easter Basket tutorial combines a grass skirt, tropical ferns, and Plumeria flowers to create a Hawaiian/Polynesian inspired Easter Basket for any little Moana Lover!

When I created my first Moana Easter Basket I knew I wanted to do a tutu because it’s been very popular with all of you, but as we were watching moana for the 100th time I got inspired to do something a little different. I wanted to turn Moana’s floral crown into a basket. It’s so pretty and I couldn’t wait to recreate it. I wasn’t able to find many supplies in store so I had to order everything on Amazon, but with prime they were here in 2 days.

For this basket you’ll need:

grass skirt, I suggest an adult XL

tropical fern lei

plumeria flowers (I ordered red because the picture showed them as a pinkish shade, but they’re red. Pink may match Moana better)

seashells

metal Easter bucket (got it at Walmart)

For the basket/bucket I went with metal because they tend to be taller and I wanted some distant between the grass skirt and the fern crown. You’ll also need scissors and a hot glue gun. This basket was very quick to make and so simple.

You’ll start by making sure all of the grass on the grass skirt is pushed together, so they’re all touching. Next you’ll start to glue right under the top rim of the bucket and attach the grass skirt. You’ll want to do small section since hot glue dries quickly. One that is done you’ll cut off the grass skirt tie and make sure it’s glued down. Next you’ll repeat the same process, but with the tropical fern lei. I picked a spot and cut it open, glued the string down, and then glued it down all around in sections. Once that is done you’ll want to add a few seashells and flowers. For the flowers I cut the stems all the way off and then glued a few in between the fern leaves. Once everything is glued on you’ll want to cut the excess grass skirt off around the bottom. I just went around the bottom of the basket so the grass was the same length as the bucket.

Simple, Easy, and so pretty!
