Denver Summer Diaries – Rides, Stingrays, and Slime!

Sharing is caring!

This week we visited the SeaQuest Aquarium in Littleton, the family festival carnival at northfield stapleton, and the biggest bounce house in america in lone tree.

UPDATE: It has recently come to our attention that SeaQuest Aquarium in Littleton has failed 2 health inspections. (You can read more here) This is not behavior or conditions that The Denver Housewife family supports. Due to their failed inspections and that our 4 visits since they have opened has raised our own concerns we will no longer be supporting, visiting, or promoting the SeaQuest Aquarium in Littleton in Colorado. We have faith that they’ll take these violations seriously and get their animal/fish conditions in tip top shape, until then we will no longer be taking advantage of our yearly passport.

We’ve finished our first week of summer break and it’s been a roller coaster of sickness in our house. Our kids caught some type of tummy bug and we spent a good chunk of the week knee deep in vomit. This is not how I planned on starting off the summer and it put a damper on some of our plans, but we still managed to get some fun in this week.

SaturdayThe Biggest Bounce House in America came to town for the weekend and we took a trip Saturday morning to visit it. The kids had so much fun jumping the morning away. If it comes again next year I really suggest visiting. Our kids played in their first ball pit, went down big slides, tackled obstacle courses, and spent some time jumping in the biggest bounce house.

If you’re looking for places to bounce around Denver Jumpstreet, The Bounce Place, and Bounce City are a few fun places to check out.

The Biggest Bounce House in America

Sun – Tue kids took turns being. We hung out around the house and watched movies.

Wednesday – We headed to Northfield Stapleton for a family night of fun. We use to live very close to this shopping center and I was there multiple times a week for various reasons *cough TARGET cough*. They have a variety of shops, delicious restaurants, and things for the family to do like the movies, game works (which I am hoping to check out this summer), and a splash pad. They had a Family Fest Carnival going on and since my kids have never been to a carnival before we decided it was the prefect time to go.

Denver Dog Haus Hot Dogs

First we stopped into Dog Haus Biergarten and ate delicious hot dogs for dinner. Our family loves hot dogs and we’ve been on the lookout for a good hot dog place in Denver and we’ve found one. All of their food is served on King’s Hawaiian rolls (one of my fav things) and everything is made fresh. They serve gourmet hot dogs, sausages, burgers and a one of a kind fried chicken sandwich. They also have a great selection of beers, if you’re a beer drinker, and they go great with their signature Haus creations. Learn more about Dog Haus

Denver Carnival

Denver Frozen Yogurt

After dinner and the Family Festival we headed over to Munchies for some frozen yogurt. The kids had a blast picking out their flavors and filling their cups with toppings. We enjoyed our froyo outside and watched the sunset. Perfect ending to a warm summer night.

Looking for a carnival like experience? Lots of fairs are rolling into town so be on the lookout for those. Lollipop Park, Lakeside Amusement Park, and Heritage Amusement park all have kid friendly rides and are lots of fun.

Thursday – We headed to the new SeaQuest Aquarium in Littleton, Colorado (located inside Southwest plaza on the bottom level near Dillards) where we met up with a friend and our kids explored the new aquarium together. They fed birds, watched fish, pet a tortoise, looked at reptiles, counted iguanas, and met a mermaid. The SeaQuest aquarium opens to the public on June 2nd, but we have a yearly pass so we’ll be going a few more times over the summer.

Friday – The kids made glow in the dark slime. Our easy slime recipe only requires 2 ingredients – elmer’s glow in the dark glue and elmer’s slime magical liquid activator. Mix per directions and enjoy!
