Peppermint Hot Chocolate is a winter must have when it comes to hot cocoa. This Peppermint Bark inspired snowflake hot chocolate bomb is minty, chocolatey, and creamy. It’s the perfect cup of hot cocoa on a chilly day.

Are you new to making hot chocolate bombs or are you a pro who is looking for more flavors? I have a variety of hot chocolate bomb flavors available with recipes on how to make them.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate Bombs combine dark chocolate and peppermint white chocolate on the outside with peppermint hot cocoa, marshmallows, and peppermint bits on the inside for an explosion of peppermint hot chocolate.

How to Make Peppermint Bark Hot Chocolate Bombs

If you’re new to making hot chocolate bombs I’ll walk you through the steps on how to make these bombs. If you’re not new then you probably already know how to do these.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 cups White Peppermint Candy Melts. If you can’t find the white peppermint melts you can use white chocolate wafers and mix peppermint bits into it. For the shell, you’ll want to crush them very finely.
  • 2 cups Dark Chocolate Wafers, I like Ghirardelli
  • 2 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • Peppermint Hot Chocolate Mix – You can use chocolate or white chocolate mix
  • Peppermint Bits – You can use crushed up candy canes or buy them crushed already
  • Silicone Sphere mold or Snowflake Mold. I got my snowflake mold at Michael’s, but this one is similar.

How to make Peppermint Hot Chocolate Bombs:

Place white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in the microwave per the directions on the package. I start with 30 seconds and then mix it and do 15 second intervals, mixing in between.

You’ll want to melt one type of candy melts at a time, because they can cool quickly. I started with dark chocolate first, but it doesn’t matter which you do.

For the Dark Chocolate you’ll want to make a flat piece with the snowflake mold. Pour your melted chocolate into half of your molds and will with about 1 – 1/2 tbspn of melted dark chocolate.

For the Peppermint White Chocolate, you’ll want to pour melted chocolate into the snowflake mold and fill it up to the top. Let it sit for a few seconds and then pour out the excess chocolate into your bowl.

Place the molds into the fridge for 5 mins to harden.

Your dark chocolate pieces are done, but you’ll need to apply another layer of white chocolate to your white chocolate mold. Place back in the fridge for another 5 mins.

Once your chocolate has hardened you can remove it from the molds.

Fill the white chocolate piece with hot chocolate mix, 5 mini marshmallows or a jumbo peppermint marshmallow, and a little bit of crushed peppermint candy.

Take the dark chocolate piece and place it on a warm plate or skillet for 10 seconds to melt it a little bit.

Place the dark chocolate piece onto the white chocolate piece so they line up evenly.

Let them cool.

Now you have a peppermint bark hot chocolate bomb.

If you wanted to do this with a sphere mold you would do one side dark chocolate and one side with peppermint white chocolate. You can see how to make a sphere hot chocolate bomb in my snickerdoodle hot chocolate bomb post.

How to Use a Hot Chocolate Bomb

Once your hot chocolate bomb is ready to be used you’ll want to heat up 1 1/2 cups of milk so it’s hot. Place your hot chocolate bomb into your mug and pour the hot milk over it. Watch it explode!

If you find your hot chocolate bomb is too sweet or chocolatey you can always add a little more milk to your mug.
