Things to do in Denver for Christmas & Winter!

Sharing is caring!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Winter if my favorite time of year. The decor, the holidays, and the LIGHTS. I’ve always loved Christmas lights and now that I live in Denver they’re just so much more magical. Glimmering lights against a backdrop of snow is such a gorgeous sight. Snow capped mountains, frosted trees, and icicles are another lovely sight. My kids love winter too and look forward to the days we have snow. As they’re getting older it makes getting out of the house easier and more fun. So I’ve put together a list of fun things to do during the winter in Denver. A bucket list of winter activities in Denver is what we’ll be doing this year.

Have a snowball fight

Go sledding. Some of the best places to sled in Denver are Ruby Hill, Kippling Sledding Hill, Jefferson Park Bowl, and Central Park.

See the Denver Zoo Lights. Taking place from Nov. 24-25 & Dec. 1-31st.

See Blossoms of Light at the Botanic Gardens. Taking place Nov 24th – Jan 1st.

Eat a poptart and drink hot cocoa at Sugar Bakeshop.

Go on a carriage ride. Southlands will be offering some this winter.

Visit Santa’s Workshop in Northpole, Colorado.

Go for a Christmas train ride. Georgetown Loop Railroad, Santa North Pole Adventure, Santa’s Lighted ForestColorado Railroad Museum Polar Express, and Royal Gorge Route Railroad Santa Express, all offer Christmas Train rides.

Take a ride on the Denver Pavilions Holiday Carousel.

Go Ice Skating at Denver International Airport, Southlands Shopping Center, or the Downtown Denver Rink.

Visit Santa Claus. Our favorite locations are Southwest Plaza, Cherry Creek Mall, and Flatirons Crossing. They have the best Santa’s and Santa experiences in Denver (in my opinion).

Watch Parade of Lights. Dec 1st & 2nd.

Visit Santa’s Village at Chatfield.

Enjoy some indoor fun at Great Wolf Lodge (in Colorado Springs).

Visit Denver City Hall to see the lights.

Play Mini Golf in the Holiday Lights at Adventure Golf and Raceway.

Drive around and see Christmas Lights.

Wear a new pair of Christmas PJ’s.

Watch a Christmas Movie.

See a play like A Christmas Carol.

See the Nutcracker.

See some reindeer.

Visit Georgetown Christmas Market.

Take a jog in the Ugly Sweater Run.

Deliver a Christmas Wishlist to Santa at Union Station.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Denver during winter?
