I went to a movie ALONE…

Sharing is caring!

I have been in a funk lately. It all started the beginning of the week when our tax return didn’t show up. We filed, it was accepted, and we had a date in which it should be in our account. That date came and went and still our money is missing. Talk about total disappointment. Where the hell are you tax return!? I need to stimulate the economy damnit!!

Then the second mood killer for the week was when on the same day our tax return DIDN’T SHOW UP my “Check Suspension” light came on in my SUV. We were out running errands, so we ran home and I picked up the car and off to the dealership we went. It was almost closing so we left it over night and they said they would call the next day with their findings. Come the next day we get a call that something is wrong with the suspension plus a few other minor things, but it would be done sometime the next day. Want to guess how much it was to fix it?!?!?! Yes folks, $3,500!!! Thank god my husband bought a warranty when we bought the SUV last year because it covered EVERYTHING, but our deductable on the policy! That was a minor highlight to the week, I suppose.

O yeah, did I mention I was sick? Yes, SICK! I can’t remember the last time I was sick. I usually make it out of cold/flu season with no cold or flu, but NOPE! Sunday I woke up sick and so did the toddler. I am fine now, but the toddler is coughing up a lung and has the nastiest runny nose. So really that is what started the crappy week…

So 3 days with no car, me and the toddler sick and our tax return still MIA had set me into a funk.

The DMV Story from HELL

THENNNNNN my husband decides we should register my car in CO. I guess it’s time, we have been here long enough after all. So yesterday after we picked up my SUV I went to the DMV with the car. I have always hated the DMV. In CA the DMV has super long lines and rude workers. I’ve heard the DMV here was better so I was just planning on an in n out trip. Boy was I WRONG! I walked in, got my number, and sat down to wait. Did I mention I was there with a TODDLER! After about 20 minutes of waiting I hear someone in front of my complain that they have been waiting almost 2 hours. G-R-E-A-T!

Stuck in the DMV for 2 hours with a toddler is not my idea of fun. It was lunch time and I was starving! I did not prepare for a long wait since I had HEARD the DMV here was very fast. So hungry me & toddler, sick toddler, and bored toddler… She drank all her juice, ate her snacks, and decided her leappad was no longer fun after about 30 minutes. I was ready to have a meltdown at this point too… I get to the counter after waiting almost 2 hours to find out I need a smog and the title for my car. I asked for a temporary registration and was told they don’t have those here. WHAT!!!! In CA you walk into the dmv, show them your ID and paperwork and you get a temp. Once you get all the stuff done they want, IE smog, then you are given your plates and registration.

I storm out of the DMV and call my husband. You see it was his idea for me to do this and he should have known I would need this stuff since he is the expert and all, but my husband doesn’t answer. About 5 minutes later he calls me back and I am in full on bitch mode. He tells me I should have known that I would need that stuff and since that’s not what I wanted to hear I hung up on him and decided to ignore all of his calls for the next 30 minutes. When I did answer I yelled at him and started crying, because that is what I do.

So now I am on a mission to find a Smog place. I type in “smog” on my gps and I found a station a few minutes away. After about 20 minutes my car was done. I went to pay and found out it was cash or check only. Who the hell still uses checks and don’t they know I never carry cash?? What kind of operation are they running!??! I asked the lady to just print out my papers and I would come back with the cash. She said NO. Go get cash, come back and we will do it over. ARE YOU F’ING KIDDING ME!?!?!?! I got my cash, came back, waited another 20 minutes and got my smog done.

Once I was done with the Smog I called my bank. I asked them to email me a copy of my title and I was told that they didn’t have it. How can you not have it, I make payments to your ass every month! I was then told that when they bought my loan last year the old bank didn’t send it over. (My original loan company went out of business and never sent over proper info on accounts in the process of the new company buying the loans. I’ve been told this is a “common problem.”) After arguing with the lady over my title she told me she would send me an electronic one. I went home to print it out and realized I was sent PRINT SCREENS of my account, but it had all the info so I thought it would work. I went back to the DMV and waited another Hour + only to be told the paperwork I had wasn’t sufficient. At this point I have had it. I lost it and threw a big ol tantrum. I might have cried my whole way home and cried my anger into some McDonalds. (Don’t judge me, I didn’t eat the whole day because of this madness)

This morning I got up and got to do it all over again. I called the bank again and told her I REALLY needed the title. She told me she could request a copy from the DMV, but that it would take a few weeks and she would need a letter from the DMV. “Did the DMV give you the paperwork?” Ummmmmmmmmm, NO? Then I called the DMV to ask how I could get such “paperwork”. They told me there was NO paperwork and they had no idea what I wanted. I explained my whole story and the guy told me he would talk to his supervisor. I called the bank back AGAIN and the lady finally agreed to request the paperwork and call me once she had the title. Then the nice man from the State office called me back and said to go into the dmv with my dealership paperwork and I should be able to register the car, but he warned me if they are being a-holes it might not work. I guess this is what I can look forward to on Monday?

I don’t handle stress well at ALL. I cry, I yell, and I throw adult sized temper tantrums. I know, I’m awful… Deal with it.

After dealing with car crap all morning I decided I needed time alone. I took myself to a MOVIE. An adult movie. A real movie. In a movie theater. WITH NO TODDLER! I WENT TO A MOVIE ALL ALONE! I have never been to a movie all alone, ever! I knew my husband wouldn’t want to see The Vow and if he did go with me we would have to bring the toddler. I wanted to watch this movie uninterrupted, so I went alone. I got my ticket and my snacks and off I went to find my seat. I walked in and there were a few people in there, most of them alone. I was like “hell yeah”! I am not the only person here alone. Then all of a sudden more people came in and sat with the “alone” people. I guess they weren’t so alone after all. Some of them even gave me that pathetic “Awwwww your here alone, how cute” smile. Then I started to feel like a loser because I was in the movie all ALONE!

You know what? I enjoyed every damn minute of it. I got to eat my OWN snacks with no one trying to eat or drink them, I got to sit and watch it without a toddler trying to play, and I didn’t have to listen to someone try and talk to me…

The Vow was a cute movie. I was a little let down with it though. I thought it was going to be better then it was, but it was still a good movie and I would watch it again. Besides Channing Tatum is in it and you get to see his naked butt. Yummmmmmmmmm!!

My week sucked. Was yours any better??
