Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

Sharing is caring!

Garlic Parmesan chicken wings are a favorite in our family and my husband loves them when we visit our favorite wing place. Since our goal is to cook at home more (and it’s cheaper) I decided to whip up a batch for him the other day for lunch and they were a big hit. Crispy, juice, and full of flavor these chicken wings are great for a game day appetizer, a delicious lunch, or dinner. The best part is it’s so easy to double or triple the batch if you’re feeding a crowd. So the next time you’re in the mood for some wings, whip up a batch of these and hopefully they’ll be a favorite for you as well.

Can You Use Fresh Garlic and Parmesan for Chicken Wings

My recipe calls for garlic powder and powdered parmesan cheese, but you can sub those for the fresh thing. When melting your butter add 3 cloves of minced garlic and let simmer for 2-3 minutes or until garlic is fragrant. Substitute the parmesan for freshly grated parmesan. You’ll want to add your parmesan to the garlic sauce when it’s time to coat the wings so the parmesan cheese doesn’t melt.

Can You Bake Garlic Parmesan Wings

You can bake garlic parmesan chicken wings. Season and dredge your wings per the directions. Preheat an oven to 400 degrees and place your chicken wings on a baking sheet with a rack. I spray the rack with cooking spray and give my wings a light spray too. Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

Can You Cook Garlic Parmesan Wings in the Air Fryer

Yes you can! I have made this recipe several times in the air fryer. You’ll season and dredge your wings the same way, but when it comes time to cook them you’ll put them in the Air Fryer. I give my wings a light spray of cooking oil, making sure all the white spots on the wings are “wet”. The I place them in a single layer in my air fryer basket. I usually have to cook my wings in batches, so I bought a second air fryer. I hit the chicken setting on my air fryer and cook for 18-20 minutes. To check doneness I use a meat thermometer and make sure my wings are a nice golden brown and crispy. Chicken wings are done at a temp of 165 degrees.

Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
  • Parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Season your wings with salt and pepper.

  4. Dredge wings in the flour.
  5. In a heavy pot heat oil to 350 degrees. Deep fry wings for about 5 to 7 minutes, and then drain on a wire rack. Make sure not to overcrowd your pot. You'll need to fry the wings in batches. Flip the wings halfway through cooking to ensure they're cooking evenly.
  6. Cook the wings until they start to brown. Bake wings for about 15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  7. Prepare your sauce by melting the butter in a small pan.
  8. When the butter is melted add the garlic powder and let simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Remove the pan from the heat and add in the parmesan cheese. Mix everything together.
  10. When the wings are finished cooking in the oven put the wings into a large bowl.
  11. Pour the melted garlic butter over the wings and toss until the wings are coated.

Notes

For this recipe, I used the powdered parmesan cheese. If you use fresh parmesan skip adding it to the butter and sprinkle on the chicken once coated in garlic butter mixture.
