Unicorn Birthday Party Decorations DIY

I was stumped as to what theme to do for our daughter’s birthday this year, so a few weeks ago I asked her for several suggestions. When 2 of her suggestions were unicorns and rainbows I knew this was going to be a lot of fun. To make these decorations I used card stock picked up at Michael’s and my Silhouette Cameo 3. Most files are from the Silhouette store (I’ll provide item #’s below) and I used the cameo settings to cut the card stock. I’ll also link any tutorials I used below, but a lot of it I just winged it. My favorite glue is the Elmer’s craftbond glue pens.

Lori Whitlock Unicorn Cake Topper

To make our Unicorn Cake Topper I used the Lori Whitlock design and adjusted it to the size of our cake. (Item #255670) She has a tutorial on her youtube channel for how to put the ears together and rolled roses.

DIY Unicorn Fairy Wands

For the unicorn birthday wands I used this tutorial. I only used one star and didn’t wrap my rod in ribbon. I got my dowels and 1/8 thick ribbon from Michael’s.

For the Unicorn Mask/Glasses I used this design. (Item #189499)

Happy Birthday Unicorn Banner DIY

For the banner, it’s a mix of different things. The font is Unicorny. The banner is a Parenthesis bracket banner/flag. I layered a solid color of card stock, then a smaller banner that was white with a heart print. Each section on the banner is 5.5 w by 6.5 l in size. The smaller banner is 4.75 by 5.5. Letters are Unicorny font in font size 501.

Unicorn is doodlebug design (#185524).

Rainbow is doodlebug design (#185512).

Raincloud is the heart drop cloud (#73279)

Heart on the letters is the heart from the unicorn, enlarged. To put the banner together I glued together the banners together with Elmer’s Craftbond glue pen. I added the letters with adhesive 3d pop dots to give a little dimension and added the heart with the glue pen. Once all of them are assembled I punched 2 holes on each side of each banner flag and used 3/4 thick satin ribbon to string the banner. I then took several colors of 1/8 thick satin ribbon (same one I used for the wands) and tied some at the start and end of the banner for some extra flair.

Pin the horn on the Unicorn – I used the unicorn above and sized it to 12×12. I would have gone larger, but ran out of time and didn’t have time to play around with cutting something into multiple pieces and putting it together. I cut out 3 unicorn horns so the kids could take turns trying to pin the horn on the unicorn. It’s a fun unicorn game for a unicorn party.

Get Birthday Banner Flag

I’ve had a lot of requests for the file I used for the banner flags. It was a custom file I made years ago and now I’m sharing it with y’all. To get the banner flag visit this post to download the free svg and dxf files for the parentheses banner flag.
