Baby Shark Birthday + How to Make Your Own Party Hat!

Sharing is caring!

Our daughter’s birthday was a few weeks ago and it only made sense that we threw her a Baby Shark Birthday Party filled with Baby Shark Birthday Decorations and a Baby Shark Cake. To make the day even more special I also made her a Baby Shark Party Hat and got her a Baby Shark Dress.

For her Baby Shark birthday party decorations I ordered:

I did not order any baby shark plates because I knew we were going out for dinner on her birthday, so we didn’t need them.

If you’ve been here a while and seen my other birthday posts for my kids, like our Trolls Birthday or Unicorn Birthday, then you’ll know I love to decorate for their birthdays and throw them a little party at home. I always decorate while they’re at school so they can come home to a birthday celebration!

This year I also made our own Baby Shark party hat and it was so easy to do. I followed the Party Hat Tutorial by pretty in pink supply and for most of my items from them.

To make your own Party Hat you’ll need:

  • A party hat. Any kind will do. If you’re using a cutting machine you could even download a template from one of their stores, cut it out, and use that for the template.
  • Hot glue + Glue Gun
  • Fabric Sheet – I used a chunky glitter sheet in Shocking Pink
  • Baby Shark Feltie
  • Mini Pom Poms – I had gotten mine from Pretty in Pink Supply, but a lot of them are out of stock. You could use some from your local craft store.
  • Pom Pom for the top. I made a tulle pom pom, about 1 inch.

You can follow the tutorial on Pretty In Pink’s page for how to make a party hat. The things I did differently were that I added the baby shark feltie which I just hot glued on, I used pom poms all over the hat, and I used tulle for my topper. Everything was just hot glued on.

For her cake, I made a 2 layer cake and did an ombre like effect on it. I was trying to get the look of an ocean. I’m no expert, but my kids love it. I made a batch of buttercream frosting and separated it into 3 bowls. One I left white and the other 2 I did 2 shades of blue. I did the darker blue from the middle down to the bottom and the lighter shade from the middle to the top. I dabbed some white in spots and then swirled it together.

For the baby shark cake topper, I used my silhouette cameo to cut everything out. I got all the files from the design store. The baby shark I got off Etsy and did a print to cut. Design and layer it all together in the design space and then cut and glue together accordingly.
