Summer is finally here. With the new opening of a local recreation center down the street and lots of water parks around Denver to visit we’ll be spending a lot of time in the water this summer. Since my kids are still learning how to swim it’s important that I’m there by their side helping them learn, giving them confidence, and making the whole process fun!

Tip 1: Help Them Gain Confidence

Confidence plays a big role in learning how to swim. Help your child to feel comfortable in the water by encouraging them to play in it. Be their biggest supporter, don’t stress out about it (because then they’ll stress), and give them some tools to make them feel safe.

The SwimWays Paw Patrol Swim Trainer Life jacket is our go to this summer. It has one of our toddler’s favorite character on it (Skye), which makes her want to wear it. The design is easy to put on and comfortable for her to wear. It gives her the confidence boost she needs in the water and helps her to feel like she can swim on her own. Of course, I am right by her side, but with the Swimways Paw Patrol Swim Trainer Life Jacket on she can float in the pool on her own so I and follow the steps I am showing her on how to swim.

Tip 2: Make it Fun

I still have fond memories of learning how to swim in my grandma’s pool one summer. They tossed me in and showed me how to paddle, move my arms, and kick my legs. It was all fun and very chill. I’m taking that same approach with my kids. With the help of SwimWays, they have fun life jackets to keep them afloat and squirt each other while I show them the proper techniques on learning how to swim. There’s lots of laughing, fun pool toys, and no stress. Kids can see and feel your stress, so it’s important to teach them proper pool safety, how to swim, but all in a chill fashion.

Tip 3: Practice Makes Perfect

Practice, Practice, Practice. Summer is the perfect time to learn how to swim and SwimWays has a lot of fun life jackets or all ages to help make the process easier. Visit your local lake, recreation swimming pool, or community swimming pool. A lot of them have summer passes available which makes visiting easier on your budget. Visit Teach Me to Swim by Swimways for lots of resources on water safety and steps for teaching your little one how to swim.
