I can’t believe it’s time to start thinking about back to school. In just a few weeks our daughter will be back in school and we’ll be back to a morning routine. Having a morning routine is really important with 3 little ones to get out the door on time in the morning in our home. Without one it’s pure chaos and craziness.
I like to get up before the kids and take a shower. I’m a morning shower person and they really help to get my day going and wake me up. Those 30 minutes of quiet before the kids get up is also a nice start to my morning. Once I’m out of the shower and dressed, I toss a load of laundry in the washer and start getting all the kids up. Getting the kids up can be a process sometimes, especially since my kids are not morning people. Once they’re up they come down for breakfast.
Breakfast is usually something quick and easy. Cereal, Oatmeal, or Frozen waffles with fresh fruit. I usually skip breakfast, but I’m really trying to sit down with the kids and enjoy breakfast with them. I also find that by eating breakfast with the kids I stay fueled longer in the morning and I don’t find myself starving and grabbing not so good for you foods. I love eggs in the morning, but on school mornings I don’t always have enough time to prepare them so I like to grab Jimmy Dean Delights Frittatas. Found in the frozen foods section Jimmy Dean Delights Frittatas are packed full of wholesome ingredients, are high in protein to keep you full longer, and are ready in just a few minutes so that I can enjoy a breakfast I love quickly.
Once breakfast is done it’s time for the kids to get dressed while I pack our daughter’s lunch. Getting the kids dressed is always an event and let’s not get started with trying to find their shoes. Once everyone is dressed and ready to go we start our walk to school (or drive depending on the weather). Then me and the littlest ones head home. The kids play, nap, eat lunch, and then it’s time to pick up their big sister.

My morning tips is to get everything you can ready the night before including packing backpacks, clothes laid out, homework signed and done, and school lunches and breakfast prepped. As someone who is not a morning person I need to not have to think too much on school mornings.

We're night shift so our morning routine is in the evening, but I try to get up a few minutes before everyone else needs up so I can collect myself and start to prep. Knowing in advance what you're going to fix for food and pack for lunches really helps, as does keeping a few items like these on hands for the moments when your previous plans don't work out.
