A while back I shared some of my mommy must haves with all of you and all of those items are still favorites of mine and used daily in our home. With a new little one arriving in a few short weeks I thought I would share with you some items that are on my baby registry, but would also make great gifts for an expecting mom. Since this is our 4th baby I think it’s fair to say I’ve used a lot of different baby products over the years and when I find a product I love, I stick with it, recommend it to everyone, and buy them for other expecting moms I know. When giving baby gifts I love to give a big gift basket full of useful items that mom will need, but will also make her life easier, so I share items that work in our house with the hopes that they can help another mom just as much. So here’s my 10 Registry Items/Baby Shower Gift Ideas!

Baby Shower Gift Ideas

1. Aden & Anais – I’m really in love with this brand and have loved everything I’ve bought. From Swaddles, to dream blankets, to day dream blankets, and their toys. Their dream blankets are a favorite among our kids and their dream blankets and swaddles are on my registry and they make a perfect gift for an expecting mama. Bonus – Their customer service is amazing as well.

2. Baby Wash – Bathing is essential to babies, because they sure do get dirty. I really love the SheaMoisture Baby items. Not only do their baby products smell amazing, but they’re great for babies with sensitive skin. We switched to this brand when our son was a baby due to his dry skin and eczema and I haven’t stopped using it. It’s all natural and organic, which I love, and if you put them in a baby tub with a fuzzy towel, some wash cloths, and bath toys it makes a great gift.

3. Diaper Genie – I love love love our Diaper Genie Elite. I’ve had one with all our kids and it’s a total life saver when it comes to the stinky diapers! I just toss the diapers in the Diaper Genie and empty it when it’s full. No more having to take each stinky diaper outside, which can be a pain when you have a baby who likes to poop a lot. It’s very easy to set up and even easier to use, it doesn’t take up too much space, and it keeps the stink away. This is a great gift on it’s own, but make sure to toss in some refills because mom will need them! The Diaper Genie is available for purchase at Target and I picked mine up when I was picking up a few other baby essentials.

Another great thing about Diaper Genie is when you purchase Diaper Genie products you earn “Mommy Time” rewards points that can be used towards great rewards for yourself or you can give them to the mom to be. It’s very easy to do:

  • Buy: Purchase participating Diaper Genie products
  • Snap: Take a photo of your store receipt using your mobile phone or upload a photo of your receipt or baby registry from your desktop and create your own Mommy Time Rewards profile at MommyTimeRewards.com
  • Redeem: Log in to your Mommy Time Rewards account to redeem your points for eGift Card rewards.  Mom can reward herself with her favorite products from participating retailers like Sephora and Zappos, or eGift Cards for massages, dining and more.

4. Diapers & Wipes – Every mom needs diapers and wipes for her little one and the more the merrier. I always recommend pampers to new moms, but if mom has a specific brand she wants, go with those. Or a gift card so she can purchase the brand she likes works too.

5. Teething Toys – Teething toys are such a fun gift to give because there are so many cute ones and they all double as a toy to play with and a toy to chew on. Our favorites are Sophie the Giraffe and the Comotomo teether.

6. Diaper Bag – Diaper bags have come a long way and there are so many cute styles and patterns, lots even look like a regular purse now. I personally love our skip hop and JJ Cole satchel diaper bags since they’re sturdy, good quality, and hold all the items we’ll need while our with the littles.

7. Bassinet – I’m not one to bed share with my kids, but I love having them right next to the bed so I can check on them during the night and so they’re easy to reach when they wake up for their middle of the night feedings. I put baby in a bassinet for the first few months next to the bed and it works out wonderfully. There are a lot of great bassinet options depending on your needs and I’m really swooning over the HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper and can’t wait to use it with our little girl. For our son I used the Rock ‘n Play, which isn’t a bassinet technically, but since he had bad acid reflux it worked great since he could sleep at an angle. The Rock ‘n Play is a big hit with moms.

8. Bottle Feeding – Feeding can be a sensitive issue with moms, so I always say to ask mom first about what she plans on doing with baby so you can get the right supplies. If she’s going to be a formula mom then give her some bottles, bottle cleaners, and a gift card for formula. I’ve tried several bottle brands over the years and I really like the born free bottles, but evenflo and munchkin are very close runners up.

9. Breast Feeding – See #8 for how to proceed, but make sure mom is going to breast feed before getting her any supplies. Nipple cream, breast pads, milk storage bags, and breast pump supplies make great gifts and a breast feeding mom will go through a lot of them. For me personally, I breast feed and pump and bottle feed. An affordable pump I love that works great is the evenflo double breast pump and for BF’ing bottles I really liked the munchkin latch bottles.

10. Spoil Mama – Being pregnant is tiring, achy, and hard. Getting some gifts to pamper mom is always a bonus. A gift card for a pedicure, prenantal massage, or dinner out are all great gifts for mom ideas. Also some of her favorite snacks or candies are a great addition to a gift basket.
